^ wow... i'm chinese and i don't do that, i kind of see how you mean, but i don't get my panties into a bunch about people who chose to associate with themselves - i can find myself some better friends to hang around with. anyway, canada is a immigrant country, why do asians HAVE to integrate into western society, namely, your idea of what western society should be like? to please you? whatever, people like you only see things in one perspective.
Actually I don't see things in one perspective. The term integrate might be ambigious, but what I'm specifically referring to is the willingness to learn and excercise our cultural norms. Regardless of being an 'immigrant country' we have established and distinct cultural norms. For example, acknowledging and adopting some of western mannerisms is important if you don't want to come off as a rude asshole.
Don't expect people to like FOB Asians when they often don't acknowledge CANADIAN mannerisms and norms. Don't be surprised when people start bitching about Asians either, because when FOBs go around acting like what we perceive to be douchebags in our culture, we will be more than willing to consider them a bunch of douchebags.
It's all legitimate. People don't like FOBS at UW - FACT. The only people who like FOBs at UW are FOBs themselves. They should be happy about this because there are a lot of them.
The problem with people hating FOBs and FOBs not liking Canadians back is just your utter refusal or laziness to understand each other. If you let cultural differences frustrate you to the point of hating a whole race then it just shows how poorly educated you are and how small your world really is.
